Green Homes – A step towards environmental sustainability

Green Home

Green homes are eco-friendly homes that use less water, optimize energy efficiency, conserve natural resources, generate less waste and provide healthier spaces for occupants as compared to conventional homes.

Green homes combine different facets, right from eco-friendly building materials to the use of renewable energy sources, water recycling, and designs which strive for efficiency and harmony with the environment.

We at WaiWoods, strive to take initiatives to minimize environmental impacts by equipping our houses with sustainable and echo-friendly technologies to the best possible extent.

Some of the salient features of Green Homes that contribute towards environmental sustainability are as under:

 Energy Conservation

  • The house is designed in a way that allows for good ventilation and entry of abundant natural light. If need be, big skylights can be used.
  • The house runs almost exclusively on solar energy, or solar power used in tandem to reduce consumption of electricity

Water Conservation

  • Grey water recycling system that uses waste water from washing machine and kitchen to clean cars etc. Grey water is used for gardening, flushing and other purposes.
  • Efficient rain water harvesting system that supplies all the water required by the household.

Waste Management

  • Waste segregation is practised, and compost is made for the vegetable garden.

Building Material

  • Parts of the house, such as the windows, staircase, kitchen cupboards, book shelves are made from discarded pinewood packing cases that were polished using linseed oil.
